MoFo 9 Training Tuesdays Mr. and Mrs. Smoothee

Oh no not another frigging MoFo smoothie post! Wait! Before you go, it's not just any smoothie. Because, well, because I made it!
Oh well... they still left.
Besides I haven't made any smoothies so far during MoFo and it's Training Tuesday. Nutrient packed smoothies are good for training, but you knew that.

I've been working out this week, but differently than I have been in previous weeks. My running mileage has suffered at the hands of MoFo. I miss running, and so does Psycho Boy. He likes running after me. Sometimes he likes running after me with a sharp object. So lots of time my training regimen is for mere survival. Please don't try the running with sharp objects at home.

Right here, right now me and Psycho Boy pledge to be recommitted. I mean to recommit to our running agenda.

Last week, I ran 4 miles and tacked on 3 miles walking, and walked another day.
I did strength training and core ball with sit ups and a little cardio on 3 days. I actually played tennis with my friend Liz one day. We drilled and did court sprints - something called running the lines, and had a really good workout and a lot of fun. Running the lines is a great exercise for anybody, not just tennis players and I intend to video how to do it and share it with you next Training Tuesday. Still I really miss the running. Here is my workout plan for MoFo month. I have to stay realisitic or at least make an attempt to be realistic. Reality can be a stretch for me.

Run 16-20 miles a week with a three mile walk tacked on each run.
Core ball and strength training 3-4 days a week.
Tennis 1 day with hitting drills, ( and running drills).
100 sit ups daily
75 jumping jacks daily

Two Different Smoothies for Two Different People Because One is a Big Baby.
Made in the same blender

Strawberry Smoothie

16 ounces of frozen strawberries
1 large ripe banana
1C soy yogurt
16 oz cold almond milk
2 T ground flaxseed
2 T agave and 1 packet stevia (my "go to" sweeteners)
Blend until thick and creamy, pour 1/2 into one glass.

Green Smoothie

Add a handful of spinach to liquid remaining in blender.
Pour into the glass that is not the big baby glass.

How is your exercise program going this week?  Have you made any changes during MoFo?

  2. Uh oh! This doesn't bode well for me! Next thing you know, I'll find out you're tired of taco posts too! ;)

Good job on your continued exercise, even if it's not quite at the pace you'd like. Did I tell you that I joined a gym? I did the elliptical today for 50 minutes and burned 560 calories! Training Tuesday? Check!

    1. No. No. I actually could live on smoothies and kale salads, but that wouldn't do well for my blog. I love your smoothies, especially the wicked witch of the west one. And your tacos. I'm hungry.
      You go Cadry! That's awesome.

  4. That's so awesome that you two do things like this together. Funny with the smoothies- Mike is a big baby with the spinach, too.

Your weekly routine looks excellent. We've been hiking & walking, but I need to start doing running & weights again.

    1. Thank you, Molly. Backatcha.

How are your wrists? Are you able to do strength training? Good for you guys hiking!

    2. My wrists have been mostly good lately, although I do get pretty bad tendonitis flare-ups sometimes. I can do strength training as long as I don't do anything that puts pressure on them. :)

  6. I stayed, too - all the way through the end of the post! Nuthin' wrong with another smoothie recipe. My running is totally suffering right now. Not MoFo, just NoMo (no motivation). I hope to "get better" soon...

  7. Spinach scares me, too, but for some reason, bok choy doesn't, so sometimes my smoothies have bok choy. They almost never have sweetener, though, because they already taste really sweet to me, even with bok choy.

  8. Bok Choy in a smoothie? Really? I know most people don't use sweeteners do they? I guess I am a big baby too.

  9. I'm running too, and finding it hard to fit it in with Vegan MOFO month and still get to work before the day is over. I'd love to try to do 100 sit ups ... I manage a dozen or so before bed ... maybe I need your smoothie to get me energized!

  12. I haven't been reporting in on Training Tuesdays like I said I would. (Did I say I would? Or did I just promise in my head I would?) I'm a drowning a little bit in my things to do lately, but I did lose a few pounds by not eating so late and eating smaller portions and more salads. And sometimes I do leg lifts and air bicyling when I'm lying in bed. If that counts.

  13. No you promised it out loud, jen. I heard ya. Excellent, to the weight loss. That counts.
