MoFo Sloth Day Friday uh Saturday Package Food

Woo hoo it's Sloth Day Friday. That means we are opening some kind of very healthy container or package and doing something minimal with it. Lifting any kind of utensil is a lot of work. Sloth Day Friday was such a success, that I was too zombified to post it until Saturday.

Thank God Sloth Day fell on today, um yesterday because I was a wee bit wilted and cross eyed. The last time I posted on Sloth Day we located a gluten free pizza mix (of course I was too petrified to try) in a box store. See our very delicious entry here.

Today,Yesterday after a day that felt like three, I found myself walking around Target. Not sure why exactly, but I saw myself in a mirror and sure enough it was me at Target.

I've never bought any food from Target. That's not true. I once bought canned pineapple for smoothies. When I was drifting about, Psycho Boy spied Gardein and I picked up some edamames and Van's gluten free vegan waffles.

I know I'm late to eh Gardein party bahahaha but hey I wanted to try it and here's what we got.

That turned into this.

We added some water to some left over cashew dill creme and it was very tasty. Excuse the blurry photos. We were pretty blurry eyed ourselves. Yay for Target for carrying something besides pork rinds and sugary sodas.

  1. Here's a weird Target tidbit. Archer Farms (Target's brand) organic basmati (grown in India) had the least amount of arsenic in the Consumer Reports tests. (I think.) I've been meaning to go get some, and if I do, it will be my second Target food purchase — once I bought bananas there. I think Ken ate a Gardein burger last night at Veggie Grill, but I've never tried it.

  3. One stop shopping; armoires and Gardein - I like it! Were the Gardein any cheaper than what you've seen elsewhere? Curry-dill sauce with chipotle lime tenders sounds like it would certainly wake up yr tastebuds, if not do anything for yr blurry eyes.

    1. One stop shopping, haha. True. One buck less. This flavor was the only flavor they had. My tastebuds were indeeed awakened but I still snoozed.

  7. Sunday is our sloth day - hoping I will find some decent vegan "convenience" (and non-arsenic laden) foods to bring home. Thankfully, Whole Foods has no mirrors. I'm wearing sweats and grubby sneakers today and that's just the way it's going to be.

  8. Wait doesn't WF have mirrors by the cruelty free makeup section?
    That was me yesterday. grubby.
Today after the kitchen I have to dress up to go to a Birthday Party. I don't think I'll recognize myself.

    1. Yeah this was my first time trying. The husband liked it more than I did, but in a pinch I would definitely get it again.

  10. I think it's very cool that Target is selling Gardein and making it more available to folks who may not frequent natural foods stores. Plus, they have it on sale sometimes which is cool, because that never happens at my grocery store. At my store they're limited in flavors too - the Chinese one with orange sauce and the tenders. However, they're both tasty for something filling when you're having a sloth-day Saturday! :)

  11. I agree, Cadry. I am one of those customers who fills out the surveys online. You know, what would you like to see Target carry? Maybe they listened ;)
How do you like the orange sauce one?

  12. Wow! We tried Gardein last week for the first time in a crispy orange chicken variety. My kids couldn't tell the difference. Pretty incredible, pretty weird.

  13. I love Gardein sometimes. It's so good after a long work day. I usually eat it right out of the toaster, but yours looks like real dinner.

  14. Mmm edamame, I could eat bowls and bowls of that stuff!
