MoFo Day 8 Survey Says...

Thanks to the forum folks over at PPK for putting this fun little vegan quiz together. It came at the perfect time. I'm slightly zonked and am fully committed to MoFoing everyday. I intend to do a savory dish one day, a sweet dish the next. I'll throw in a contest or two, too, and a vegan dinner out! You can still enter for chance to win a box of Voopees. See MoFo Post for the very very official rules.

If you could make anyone vegan, who would it be?
Mel Brooks.

If you could only read one other vegan blog, what would it be?
I'm way too co-dependent to single out one vegan blog. There are so many great ones. I would be sad and lonely if I could only read just one.

Were you always interested in cooking, or did veganism change the way you saw and interacted with food?
I have been cooking forever. I started cooking and reading cookbooks when I became a vegetarian at 14... a lifetime ago.

Excluding analogues, what new things have you tried that you probably wouldn't have as an omni?
Roasted Brussel Sprouts.

What is the one vegan staple that everyone seems to love, but you can't get behind?
I don't get the whole vegan haggis craze...no really uh the one vegan staple...hmmm flax seeds.

What was your first "wow, I'm such a stereotypical vegan" moment?
The day I stopped coveting Manolo Blahnik shoes and started drooling over Melie Bianco bags, I realized "wow I am such a stereotypical vegan fashionista".

First recipe I veganized?
The first recipe I veganized was an original recipe called the "Sam Sam" loaf, a devil  triple chocolate chip chocolate cake.

What would you like to veganize, but haven't yet?
Chopped liver and something kitschy like a 60's fondue and a stroganoff.

Favorite kitchen utensil/appliance?
My Kitchen Aide Artisan mixer!!! (a gift from my mommy and daddy)

Most disastrous kitchen failure?
I tried to veganize an Italian Rainbow cookie. It looked terrific prebaked. Not so purty baked and stuck to the pan/

First vegan cookbook?
Vegan Vengeance by Isa Chandra Moscowitz

What question about being vegan do you HATE answering?
This one. Don't you like um miss pizza and stuff?

If you could tell the world one thing about vegans, what would it be?
We've got a conscience and most of us don't proselytize, and we're a lot simpler to cook for than you think. Give us some greens, a baked potato and a pat of Earth Balance and we're happy.

Funniest vegetable?
Bahahahahaha. That turnip gets me every time.

What is a family recipe you have veganized?
Lasagna

Weirdest food combination?
I'm not sure about  avocado frozen dessert yet.

Is there something you wish you could veganize, but can't/couldn't?
Lemon Meringue Pie, and Angel Food Cake and that freakin rainbow cookie.

  2. Mmm! I love brussel sprouts! I was probably the only kid in the US that actually likes them. We make them roasted with almonds and balsamic vinegar. Yummo! Thanks for sharing your survey with us!
